JR is a French street artist who is helping the Louvre to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The artist transformed Louvre’s iconic pyramid with a dramatic optical illusion. This optical illusion surrounds the pyramid in a beautiful way. JR placed two thousand sheets of paper around the pyramid along with 400 volunteers. Then with the art’s magical touch, the pyramid looks like it is rising from a rock quarry. Modern architecture, street art and illustration practices have all been involved in this project.

Louvre Pyramid is an iconic piece. It has become an important part of the Louvre’s history since architect I.M. Pei completed the structure in 1989.

“The images, like life, are ephemeral. Once pasted, the art piece lives on its own,” he wrote on Twitter. “The sun dries the light glue and with every step, people tear pieces of the fragile paper. The process is all about the participation of volunteers, visitors, and souvenir catchers.”
