1) Pollock – 2000

Pollock is a movie about American abstract expressionist painter Jackson Pollock. Ed Harris portrayed Pollock, and had four Oscar nominations. The movie shows us Pollock’s journey, from struggles to success, and his death.

2) Big Eyes – 2014

Big Eyes introduces us Margaret Keane. Margaret Keane was unrecognized because of her husband Walter Keane for long years. In Big Eyes, viewers can see their lives. Famous director Tim Burton directed Big Eyes and lead actress Amy Adams won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy with this movie.

3) Edvard Munch – 1974

Docudrama style movie Edvard Munch was directed by Peter Watkins. The movie tells the story of Edvard Munch’s ten years which is between 1884 and 1894 with flashbacks.

4) Frida – 2002

Frida, depicts the life of famous painter Frida Kahlo. Salma Hayek’s performance was approved by many critics. If you are curious about Frida Kahlo’s life, passion and works; you must watch Frida.

5) Lust for Life – 1965

Lust for Life is about Vincent van Gogh. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Irving Stone. Kirk Douglas played van Gogh in Lust for Life and followed his journey. The movie failed to satisfy viewers on white screen but had four Academy Award nominations. 

6) My Left Foot – 1989

My Left Foot is the story of Christy Brown who is an Irish painter and writer. He had cerebral palsy and could only use his left foot. Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor Oscar with his performance. My Left Foot is a very impressive and dramatic movie.

7) Loving Vincent – 2017

Loving Vincent is a very interesting movie because of its production process. The movie contains 65.000 squares which was painted by 125 artists. Loving Vincent won many prizes and nominations.
