UNESCO Cities of Design

A special selection from the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial, visited by more than 200 thousand people in six weeks, will meet art lovers in different locations. Over 90 exhibitors from the Biennial School of Schools curated by Jan Boelen, co-curated by Nadine Botha and Vera Sacchetti, were exhibited in France and Belgium. The design of the exhibitions is entrusted to Aslı Çiçek, who also holds the same position at the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial.

The route in Belgium in summer

The exhibition, named after the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial, opens at C-mine, the center of creativity in Genk, Belgium, following Istanbul and France. The exhibition, which will take place from 28 June to 29 September, will bring more than 100 projects from the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial to the audience.

Jan Boelen, the artistic director of Z33 – Contemporary Art House, who collaborated with the Istanbul Design Biennial to move the School of Schools to Belgium, once again curated his approach in the exhibition: “The exhibits provide a cross-section of ongoing research into how we can renegotiate knowledge and power.” The exhibition design is also the signature of Asli Cicek using Lukas Wegwerth’s III + 1 system.
