World-famous Turkish photographer and journalist Ara Güler passed away recently. He was famous for his black & white photography. Let’s get to know him with his life and works.
Ara Güler was an Istanbul lover. He travelled to countless places but Istanbul was special for him. He was dubbed “The Eye of Istanbul”.
He met with famous photographer Henri-Cartier Bresson and joined Magnum Photos. In the same year, American Society of Magazine Photographers (ASMP) accepted Güler as their only Turkish member.
His photographs were exhibited at important museums like the New York Museum of Modern Art and Photokina Fair in Cologne.
Güler was awarded as Master of Leica.
As a journalist, he interviewed many important public figures such as Salvador Dali, Alfred Hitchcock, Pablo Picasso, Winston Churchill and so on.
