Artist Vito Acconci performed an interesting performance art in October 1969. During the performance called “Following Piece”, Vito stepped out of his Manhattan apartment every day and follow the first person he has seen on the road. He recorded his follow-up with photos and notes. He followed 21 different people in 21 days.
The performances focused on routine body movements. These movements revealed extensive social associations. Acconci was completely following the person and thus getting information about their lives. Through this performance, the audience was able to examine the body’s relationship to places and other factors as a whole.
