UNESCO Cities of Design

A few weeks ago, Sandfest, the largest sand sculpture competition of the world, took place in Texas, USA. Damon Langlois who is an expert on sand carving won an award with a sand sculpture of Abraham Lincoln titled “Liberty Crumbling” at the festival. Abraham Lincoln sits on a crumbling platform in this giant sculpture and looks tired and disappointed. This sculpture, which was built on four wooden platforms, came first at the competition, as a reproduction with a new take on the marble Lincoln Memorial: Abraham Lincoln statue which was made in 1920.
