Pera Museum revives Osman Hamdi Bey’s Turtle Trainer, one of the best-known works of Turkish painting, with a virtual reality project.

The project realized on the 15th anniversary of the entry of the work to the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Orientalist Painting Collection is titled “Journey to Osman Hamdi Bey’s World: Virtual Reality Experience”. Enriched with information and documents compiled from various archives and collections, the VR application allows viewers to visit the artist’s workroom and meet many important elements from the artist’s personal belongings to the music of the period.

Pera Museum re-introduces the Turtle Trainer bearing the signature of Osman Hamdi Bey to art lovers on a different platform this time. The project titled “Journey to Osman Hamdi Bey’s World: Virtual Reality Experience” by Muse VR allows Osman Hamdi Bey to be experienced in his study room in the first months of 1906.

Viewers have the opportunity to explore many details from the artist’s desk to his paintings, from glasses and brushes to photographs, and can also get into the Turtle Trainer painting. This extraordinary experience is waiting for art lovers in the special section devoted to Osman Hamdi Bey in Sevgi and Erdoğan Gönül Gallery.
